Labor Studies

The Labor Studies Discussion Group brings together for study and debate graduate students and faculty members who share an interest in labor systems, broadly defined as socially regulated, historically conditioned, politically contested and structurally differentiated processes of allocation, transformation, valorization, and social reproduction of labor at multiple scales, from local sites of production to national economics, world economic regions, and global commodity chains. The group meets once each month, normally on Wednesday afternoons, and cohosted, under the leadership of Professor Yoonkyung Lee, an October 2007 workshop on Asian Labor. Associated faculty members include Professors Fred Deyo, Leslie Gates, and Yoonkyung Lee.
