Ricardo René Larémont is Professor of Political Science and Sociology at SUNY Binghamton and Carnegie Corporation Scholar on Islam. His research focuses upon Islamic politics, Islamic law, ethnic and religious conflict, civil wars, conflict resolution, democratization, and civil/military relations. He received his B.A., cum laude in Political Science from New York University and his J.D. from the same institution. He was graduated from Yale University with a Ph. D. in Political Science. Before arriving at SUNY Binghamton, he taught at Columbia University, Vassar College, and Yale University. He has been a frequent lecturer for the United States Department of State, focusing on issues related to his research interests. Thus far, his overseas lectures have included Niger, Ethiopia, Guinea-Conakry, Mali, Senegal, Venezuela, Canada, Guatemala, Benin, Cote d'Ivoire, Singapore, Morocco, Mauritania, and France.
